EDUCATION FOR INDUSTRY,
There is in Hong Kong and throughout China an increasing demand
for properly educated young Chinese to fill well paid posts as
Foremen in engineering works
Junior engineering draughtsmen
Clerks of works in building and engineering
Foremen builders etc.
The correct type of education for boys wishing to obtain such
posts will be available in the new
JUNIOR TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
The training will also be suitable for ambitious boys who wish
to set up in business as building contractors, and owners of small
engineering works in the automobile trade.
It is proposed to open the school in February 1933 with about
thirty boys. Instruction will at first be given in Chinese, but will
include an increasing amount of English as proficiency is gained.
The course will cover four years, at the end of which the boys
will be well educated and should have first choice of positions as apprentices in the best firms. They should, by reason of their special
education, soon be appointed to well paid posts.
Boys of about 13 years of age, in good health and with good eye- sight should take advantage of this special opportunity and should apply as soon as possible to the Headmaster, Junior Technical School,
Education Office for further particulars.
Special consideration will be given to applications from the sons of foremen and artizans in the employment of the Naval Dockyard, the Taikoo Docks, and the Kowloon Docks, and also to the sons of those
engaged in the building industry.
Apprentices in any of these undertakings should point out to
their younger brothers the advantages which the special education given at the new Junior Technical School will give them in the future.
